Fragmentary planetary records say that the deep periphery planet Martine was settled around the fall of the first Star League, by Terran refugees. The Lynn family has been one of the planet's more powerful nobles since, and often held the presidency. The Lynns grew prosperous, using their family jumpship to trade with other nearby systems.

All that changed with the arrival of Clan Snow Raven. Star Commodore Debaus Abriel jumped in system, with a warship and its compliment of mechs and fighters. However the Ravens had a problem: the ancient but still functional anti-orbital lasers the Martinese had ready. Before the crisis could evolve into battle though, President Lynn stepped in and negotiated the planet's surrender. In return he extracted three concessions from the Ravens:

1: Daily life on Martine would remain mostly unchanged.

2: He would retain civilian leadership of the planet, though of course he would be subject to the orders of the Raven Khans and the Warrior Caste in general.

3: His son, Jinto, would be given a 'fair chance' to enter the Warrior Caste.

Respecting his bargaining skill, the Ravens agreed. Luckily for Jinto, his early education in spacing allowed him to easily test into the enormous Raven navy. Assigned to a sibko of other Raven freeborn (naturally conceived, not genetically engineered) children, he was frequently bullied by the more aggressive clansmen and barely passed his Trial Of Position.

It was after this Trial that a fact came to light that would cause the Clan leadership to show interest in him: the Lynn family were related to the Jacob Lynn who would end up being one of the founders of Clan Burrock. Since Clan Star Adder had Absorbed Clan Burrock only last year, this made Jinto eligible for a formerly exclusively Star Adder bloodname, despite being freeborn. What effect this will have on his future is not yet known but it's very likely that he will one day be a pawn in the Clan's machiavellian political maneuvers.

Clan Snow Raven ended up contracting out to many of the other Clans to provide transport and naval escort during the invasion of the Inner Sphere. Jinto's first field assignment ended up being the warship Gosroth, but an ambush by a Lyran unit, which sent swarms of fighters, dropships, marines and even modified battlemechs at it, crippled the ship. Choosing to self destruct rather than allow a Clan warship to fall into Spheroid hands, Star Commodore Lexshue ordered Jinto and his new friend Lafiel to take the ship's records and escape in a lifeboat.
The two crash landed on planet, where they managed to elude capture until a Clan warship passed through the system.

Following their rescue, Jinto and Lafiel maintained contact despite being reassigned to different ships. Eventually he ended up under Lafiel's command again due to her requesting him. They served together for a year on the "pocket warship" Basroil before they were both given a special assignment. The Clan needed direct information on the Inner Sphere, for reasons that were on a need-to-know basis. An agent would have to live on an Inner Sphere world, preferably one where many nationalities mingled. Jinto, having grown up in freeborn society, would be ideal for this assignment. He agreed to these new orders under one condition: his friend and commander would accompany him. Loremaster Harper agreed and the two of them were given an extensive budget and sent to Solaris 7...
